Installation and Maintenance Course
Duration: 5 days (theory and practical)

Course Content:

  • Definition of hazardous areas (flammable gases and combustible dusts)
  • Fire triangle
  • Gas groups
  • Temperature classes
  • Zones
  • Australian/New Zealand IEC (International Electrotechnology Commission) Standards
  • Testing
  • Inspections (visual and close)

  • UEENEEM002B - Attend to breakdowns in hazardous areas
  • UEENEEM004B - Install explosion-protected equipment and wiring systems
  • UEENEEM009B - Test installations in hazardous areas
  • UEENEEM010B - Conduct close inspection of hazardous areas installations

Detailed Inspection
Duration: 2 days (theory and practical)

Pre-requisites:

  • Installation and Maintenance Course

Course Content:

  • Day 1 (theory)
    • Detailed inspection philosophy and relevant Australian Standards
    • Assessment: theory (3 hours)
  • Day 2 (practical detailed inspections)
    • Workshop based

  • UEENEEM011B - Conduct detailed inspection of hazardous areas installations


Occupational Health and Safety in Hazardous Areas
Duration: 2 days (theory)

Course Content:

  • Management responsibility
  • Relevant legislation

National units of competencies gained:

  • UEENEEM001B - Report on the integrity of explosion protected equipment in a hazardous area


Design
Duration: 2 days (theory)

Course Content:

  • Design modifications for a hazardous area

National units of competencies gained:

  • UEENEEM014B - Design and develop modifications to explosion-protected equipment
  • UEENEEM016B - Design electrical installations in hazardous areas


Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas

Course Duration: 5 days (RPL, theory and assessment)

Course Content:

  • Dependant on individual’s experience

National units of competencies gained:


Eligibility for all Hazardous Area Courses:

  • Electrical worker (Electrical Engineer, Trades Person, Instrumentation Persons etc)
  • 2 years minimum post trade/graduate experience
